The surgeon just met with us. Kayla is doing well. No complications. They elected to only fuse down to L2 instead of L3, which is great news, since she will have more mobility in her low back. We learned that she has a natural abnormality at L5-S1 where an extra large transverse process is partially fused to her sacrum. So she naturally lacks 100% range of motion at the bottom of her lumbar spine. That is a big reason why they stopped at L2.
She will be in recovery for the next hour. We will see her after that.
